KNS Club altogether with NTG School from Norway decided to come to Gran Canaria for the second year in a row. Nor Team will be represented in everyone of the Events and Classes scheduled this next winter.Just like the huge Norwegian community in the Island the Nor Team is really appreciated in our Club.
The 470 Spanish team opened the winter season in Gran Canaria.
On a day with 15 knot, sunshine and 20 degree temperatures coach Jorge Angulo and sailors Onan Barreiros/Juan Curbelo,Joge Martinez/Aaron Sarmiento and Angela Pumariega (Olympic medalist in London)/Patri Cantero began his training in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.We expect to have a huge international fleet in this class..
The main premise with which the project «Gran Canaria Sail in Winter» starts, is to consolidate nautical tourism from December to February. A firm commitment from the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria with the participation of the Tourist Board and the City Hall of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Over the years, the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria has been consolidating its presence abroad due to weather conditions one can enjoy on the island during the winter period.
Vice-Commodore of the Club, Alberto Sánchez, has been commissioned to shell what is ‘Gran Canaria Sail in Winter’. This, at first, begins to work with a website entirely in English (‘www.gcsiw.com’) that will allow foreign sailors to keep up with the club information. In this same website, everyone will easily find the Notice of Race and make the registration for the regattas.
The four races that are sheltered under the slogan ‘Gran Canaria Sail in Winter’ are the well established abroad “Canary Olympic Sailing Week-El Corte Ingles Trophy”, to be held from 4 to 8 December, the “AECIO Trophy-Regatta City of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, from 26 to 29 December, the “Gran Canaria Trophy”, from 10 to 12 January and the “International Carnival Regatta”, from 21 to 23 February.
Cepsa (RI 1), Canarias Explosivos (RI 2), Butxaca (RI 3), Rogue Wave (RI Club) and Coli (RI Promotion) leading after the first day.
Tomorrow afternoon Joel Rodriguez (Laser Radial), Patri Reino (Optimist) and Luis cabrera (Optimist) will be honoured at the Club because of their European Championship wins.Our Fx Crew Cantero-Hernandez and Laser 4.7 Sailor Maria jose Marichal will be honoured as well for their Podium places.If you want to be at the celebration we wait you tomorrow at 19.00 so book your ticket and join us!! 🙂
